7-seater Maruti Suzuki XL7 has been revealed in Indonesia. Based on the XL6, the new model has a starting price of Rs 11,98,508

The widely publicized 7-seater Maruti Suzuki XL7 has been revealed in Indonesia, where it will be sold at a starting price of Rp 230,000,000 (INR 11,98,508). As the name suggests, the new model is based on the India-spec XL6 but offers a 7-seater layout. That said, minor discrepancies do exist between the two vehicles.

The Suzuki XL7 features a different set of alloy wheels. The variations don't end here as the Indonesian cross-MPV even gets a hatch-mounted rear spoiler with 'Suzuki Sport' branding. Moreover, the Indian version misses out on the door visors and the 'Rising Orange' paint scheme. Also, unlike the XL6, which is available in Zeta and Alpha trims, the XL7 will be sold in three variants - Beta, Zeta and Alpha. The colour palette for the Zeta and Beta trims includes - Prime Cool Black, Pearl Snow White,  Pearl Burgundy Red and Magma Grey Met, while the Alpha trim is available with Rising Orange + Black, Brave Khaki + Black, Prime Cool Black and Prime Snow White. The two-tone paint schemes on the top-spec trim offer a black finish on the roof.

Akin to the Maruti XL6, the XL7 has an all-black theme for the cabin. However, instead of captain seats in the middle row, the Indonesian derivative offers a bench arrangement that can accommodate three passengers. Standard features across all trims include LED headlamps with DRL, LED taillamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Bluetooth phone controls on steering wheel. The Beta and Alpha trims also offer chrome door handles, push-button start, automatic climate control, cooled cupholders and audio controls on steering wheels.

The standard safety suite across all variants of the Maruti Suzuki XL7 will include ABS with EBD, dual-front airbags, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera (only with 4-speed AT) and ISOFIX child-seat anchorages. ESP and Hill Hold Control are available only on the automatic versions of the Beta and Alpha grades. Powering the XL7 is the familiar K15B 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that propels the XL6, Ertiga, Ciaz and the updated Vitara Brezza. It outputs a maximum power of 104.7 PS at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 138 Nm at 4,400 rpm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.

To be retailed by PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor, the on-road prices in Jakarta are as follows-

  • Zeta - MT - Rp230.000.000, AT - Rp240.500.000
  • Beta - MT - Rp246.500.000, AT - Rp257.000.000
  • Alpha - MT - Rp256.500.000, AT - Rp267.000.000

These translate to an INR-equivalent of Rs 11,98,508 for the manual transmission-equipped base model and Rs 13,92,461 for the top-spec trim with automatic transmission. Currently, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has no plans to bring the 7-seater version of XL6 to our shores.
