Mandira Bedi is the first Indian celeb to get home a Tata Nexon EV in its signature Teal Blue colour. With this move, we believe Tata Nexon EV to Indian celebs will be what Toyota Prius is to Hollywood stars.

Tata Nexon EV made headlines as India’s first high-voltage EV when it was launched. Now, it is in focus for become the choice of actress Mandira Bedi, who’s just got herself a unit of the country's most affordable eSUV. For those who aren’t aware of Mandira Bedi, she’s an Indian actress who has worked for TV Serial – Shanti, which aired on DD Television and went on to become a huge success. Also, she has hosted ICC World Cup 2003 and 2007 along with various other cricket championships. Talking of the Nexon EV, it is the very-first Indian-made high-voltage EV. It starts at Rs. 13.99 lakh for the base-spec XM variant and tops out at Rs. 15.99 lakh for the range-topping XZ+ Lux variant. Also, sitting in between the two variants is the XZ+ trim that is priced at Rs. 14.99 lakh.

Actress Mandira Bedi Gets Home India’s Own Electric SUV – Tata Nexon EV

Tata Nexon EV is based on the same platform as the IC-engined Nexon. Also, it looks the same as the IC-engined car, keeping aside a few changes, like Teal-Blue inserts at places and EV badging. Powering the Nexon EV is a permanent magnet synchronous motor that puts out 129 PS of peak power and 245 Nm of max torque. Interestingly, all of it is available right at the tap of your foot. This motor sources its juice from a liquid-cooled 30.2 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. This combination helps the Nexon EV sprint to 100 kmph from a standstill in less than 10 seconds. However, the top speed is limited at 120 kmph to preserve the range, which is rated at 312 km (ARAI-certified). To brim the battery with the charge, it takes around 8 hours, though, with the faster charger, it can be charged to 80 per cent of its capacity in just 60 minutes.

While the Nexon is generally loved for its safety aspect and build quality, the same has been ensured on its electrified twin as well. The Nexon EV comes with dual front airbags, driver seat belt with pre-tensioners and load limiters, seat belt warnings, corner stability control, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and reverse parking camera as standard. Also, to ensure the safety of under floor-mounted battery pack, it boasts of an IP67 certification for water and dust resistance, AIS-048 certification for nail penetration test, crush test and more. Additionally, the Nexon EV features overcharged protection, shock protection, and short protection for the battery and charging system.
