All-Electric Porsche Taycan Is The World Performance Car For 2020

The fully-electric four-door Porsche Taycan has won the World Performance Car Of The Year Award. The sedan scored 867 points in the performance category

The fully-electric four-door Porsche Taycan is now the World Performance Car For 2020. It may be noted here that recently, the car set up a lap time of 7:42 minutes at Nurburgring test track in Germany. Moreover, the carmaker’s fully electric car is so amazing that they’ve also awarded it the World Luxury Car title for this year. The World Car Awards are generally revealed at the New York Motor Show every year, but due to the pandemic, the event happened online, where 86 international automobile journalists voted over 50 new cars. The winners were declared during an online conference by the WCOTY (World Car Of The Year) organization.

Porsche Taycan achieved the top position in the performance category by scoring 867 points

Porsche Taycan achieved the top position in the performance category by scoring 867 points. Moreover, the second spot was grabbed by its ICE-powered sibling, the 918 and the 718 scored 716 points and reserved the third position. The Porsche Taycan was also close to winning the World Car Design Of The Year award from Madza3, but the Madza3 took it away by scoring 179 points, just two extra points from the electric Porsche. The Porsche Taycan is the first production car offered with a system voltage of 800 volts. Usually, electric cars use 400 volts system.

When being charged on DC, a driving range of 100 km can be attained in just 5 minutes. Also, the electric car can charge from 5 to 80 per cent in 22.5 minutes. The Performance Battery Plus has an overall capacity of 93.4 kWh. The user of the EV can also charge the vehicles from 11kw Alternative Current at home. The sedan is offered in two different grades, namely Turbo and Turbo S. The former puts out 680bhp of power output, while the latter offers 761bhp of peak power. Both models can achieve an electronically limited top speed of 260 kmph.
