The new-gen Hyundai i20 was earlier scheduled be launched by the mid-2020, but it looks like the ongoing pandemic has led to a delay in the launch of the new model. However, the all-new premium-hatchback will make its way to the showroom floors in the coming months. Our dealership-level sources have confirmed that the new-gen Hyundai i20 will be launched in the coming during this year's festive season. However, Hyundai is yet to confirm this news and chaces are that they would follow a similar launch model as the Verna facelift.
The new-gen i20 will be offered with 3 engine options – 1.2L petrol, 1.0L turbo-petrol, and 1.5L diesel.Since these engine options are identical to those offered on the Venue, they are likely to be offered in the same state of tune as well. The 1.2L 4-cylinder Kappa unit will be borrowed from the outgoing model and will produce peak power and torque outputs of 83 PS and 113 Nm, respectively. And, it will be offered with a 5-speed MT only.
The next on the list is the 1.0L turbocharged petrol motor. It gets a 3-cylinder configuration to belt out a rated power output of 120 PS and peak torque output of 172 Nm. It will be offered with a 6-speed MT and a 7-speed DCT. The latter will also be offered with steering-mounted paddle shifters.
The last on the list is the 1.5L oil burner. It is the same 4-cylinder turbocharged unit, which also does duties on the Verna, Creta, and the Kia Seltos. Here, in the new-gen i20, it will push out a peak power output of 100 PS and max torque of 240 Nm, and it will come mated to a 6-speed MT only.
