All-new Hyundai Tucson Breaks Cover in States

Hyundai Tucson is going to receive a generation upgrade in the international market. Ahead of the launch, Hyundai has revealed the new Tucson in the US market where this model attracts a huge following. It is expected that the new Hyundai Tucson will roll out in the US market in early 2021. Launches in other markets will follow.

As for the exterior design, the Hyundai Tucson witnesses a comprehensive makeover. Inspired by the Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy, 2022 Hyundai Tucson has gained a significantly accentuated road presence. Across the new design, you can spot a lot of diamond details which are signature for Hyundai’s so-called “Parametric Dynamics”. On the front end, Hyundai has integrated the new radical design by applying half-mirror type DRLs seamlessly on the front grille. The hidden DRLs are only visible when it is illuminated.

To the rear end, the Hyundai Tucson showcases uniquely-shaped LED taillights, which once again emphasizes the radical styling of the new model. The Hyundai badging is now relocated higher to the rear windshield area. The rear bumper features the diamond-shaped surface detailing, creating a funky look for the rear end.

In addition, 2022 Hyundai Tucson comes with bigger dimensions, allowing a more spacious and more comfortable cabin. The wheelbase measures at 108.5 inches, which is 3.4 inches longer than the previous version. The cabin space also gets bigger with a volume of 38.7 cubic feet.

On the inside, Hyundai Tucson continues to make use of the Sensuous Sportiness design which is highlighted through the new seamless dashboard design. The new technologies and advanced equipment steal the spotlight of the interior. At the centre of the dashboard, top-spec Hyundai Tucson boasts a large 10.25-inch touchscreen. On the standard version, it comes with a smaller 8.8-inch touchscreen. Both of these units get Apple Carplay and Android Auto support. There is also a smaller futuristic display behind the steering wheel, which replaces the traditional instrument cluster. The use of knobs and buttons is minimized and replaced by a touch-sensitive control panel. On top of that, the new Hyundai Tucson is fully-loaded with upmarket equipment. According to the revealed specifications, the new Tucson gets premium features like voice recognition system, heated and ventilated seat, heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging, ambient mood lighting and upgraded Bose sound system.

In terms of powertrains, 2022 Hyundai Tucson gets various powertrain options. There is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that is capable of putting out 187 Bhp and 241 Nm of torque. Another petrol engine is a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine which can generate 177bhp and 264Nm. This engine comes with an electric motor and a 1.49 kWh battery pack. The hybrid powertrain can generate a combined output of 225 bhp and 350 Nm. The last engine is a 1.6-litre petrol unit. This engine also comes with the same electric motor, forming a plug-in hybrid powertrain. However, it gets a larger battery of 13.8 kWh. This powertrain can provide a combined range of 800 km. If running on electricity alone, the range is rated at around Rs 40 km. Both of the hybrid drivetrains come with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. For the first time, Hyundai will offer an HTRAC AWD system as standard for hybrid powertrains. Price details will be revealed later.
