The first-gen Mahindra XUV500 made its debut back in 2011. The first-gen model will be ten years old by the time it is replaced by the second-gen version. The upcoming new XUV500 will continue to sport the monocoque architecture. Nonetheless, it will employ a different platform. About the engine, the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will employ 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. Supposedly, the petrol engine will be the mStallion T-GDi motor which was also on display at the Auto Expo 2020. This engine is strong enough to put out a maximum power of 190 PS and a maximum torque of 380 Nm. On the other hand, the diesel engine is likely to generate a top power of 185 PS. While the engine range will be replaced entirely, the transmission options remain the same. It will continue with two options of 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The diesel version seems to get a four-wheel-drive system as an option.
