The Japanese-owned carmaker, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has announced that its new-gen Ertiga MPV has met all the requirements of the Bharat NCAP safety norms.  After engaging in a comprehensive upgrade in terms of design and features with a new platform and lightweight materials, the all-new Ertiga not only brings in the driving convenience but also offers peace-of-mind safety kits for drivers and passengers.

The 2018 Maruti Ertiga is built on the stronger Heartect platform which also underpins its siblings like the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Baleno or Ignis. The platform could be of help lightening the all-new MPV by 10-20 kg relying on its variants as compared to the previous generation. The vehicle gets an increase in terms of length, width and height by 99mm, 40mm and 5mm, respectively along with the same wheelbase as its predecessor. The dimensional growth gives the Ertiga more cabin space, especially in the 3rd-row seating.

A number of safety fitments are incorporated into the new India-spec Ertiga. It is packed with Suzuki Toyota Effective Control Technology (TECT) body structure, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, Isofix child seat anchorage, speed warning system, rear parking sensors as well as the speed sensitive door locks. Height adjustable seats, rear parking camera are available in the range-topping trim while the ESP and the hill-hold function come with the automatic version.

In the Bharat NCAP crash test, the 2018 Maruti Ertiga showed an excellent performance. The car offers good frontal offset impact, side impact and pedestrian protection compliance.

With the 1.5-litre K15 petrol engine sticking with the smart hybrid tech, the new Ertiga provides 13% of power and 6% of torque returns. The diesel version of the car is powered by the remained 1.3-litre diesel motor that churns out 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox with the fuel efficiency of 25.47 Kmpl.
