The Aston Martin DBX is the brand’s first-ever SUV in its 106 year history.

The 2021 Aston Martin DBX was showcased a few days back on the eve of the Los Angeles Auto Show. Built on an all-new architecture, the DBX signals a new approach for the legendary 106-year-old marque as it comes to expand the portfolio with a brand new SUV for the very first time. With the DBX, Aston is set to enter the luxury SUV playground, following in the footsteps of Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Bentley Bentayga, and Lamborghini Urus.

Recently, SUVs have been becoming a brand’s sales puller, and it appears that Aston Martin has worked on the DBX with no other ambition than to succeed. The brand-new SUV comes as a perfect example of the company’s new-age design language. Based on a new unique platform, the DBX embodies the modern styling and proportions in-line with Aston Martin’s new design language. The massive horizontal front grille of the car is unmistakably Aston Martin, while the muscular curves on the bonnet come to create an evocative fascia for the DBX.

Debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the DBX creates a buzzword for its super-powerful powertrain and a solid build

The design isn't the only impressive feat of the DBX. It features a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine from the Vantage and DB11, but tuned for a slightly lower output of 550 PS and 700 Nm of torque. Power is delivered through a 9-speed automatic transmission to an all-wheel-drive system that features an electric rear-limited-slip differential along with an active-central-diff; everything you need for a modern-day SUV is present here. The high-riding SUV comes with an active exhaust system along with cylinder deactivation. The use of aluminium in its architecture makes for an ultra-lightweight structure without compromising on the strength and toughness. Aston says that the DBX weighs over 2,245 kilograms only, achieve the top speed of 291 kmph and rocket from 0 -100 kmph in only 4.5 seconds.

On the inside, the DBX gets a lot of goodies to match its riding chops. The full-grain leather-wrapped seats, electric roof blind and headliner are a few of the premium bits on the interior of the vehicle. Commenting on the DBX’s global debut, Dr Andy Palmer, Aston Martin’s President and Group CEO said that,

“I can’t emphasise enough how incredibly exciting and significant DBX is for Aston Martin. Through its development alone, this beautiful SUV has already taken the company into new territories and in inspiring directions. DBX also marks a key moment in the delivery of the third and final phase of our Second Century Plan, not only representing the promised expansion of our portfolio but also signaling the start of production at Aston Martin’s second manufacturing plant.”

As for the prices, an ultra-impressive SUV with an Aston Martin badge can never come cheap. The price of the new DBX will sit at around £158,000 (approx. Rs 1.43 Crore). Considering how brilliant this car is, there is no doubt that Aston will be enjoying wonderful sales figures with this upcoming SUV once it is launched.
