Audi A4 Facelift To Come With Hybrid Engine

Audi A4 will soon get a mid-life facelift. The new updates will also include a hybrid engine option.

Last year, Audi revealed the facelifted A4. The refreshed model is promised to comprehensively transform the current model inside out. The German manufacturer will revise the interior and exterior design of the Audi A4 in line with other models in Audi’s portfolio. Besides the cosmetic changes, updates for the powertrain are also included in this upgrade. As revealed lately, Audi A4 powertrain range will include a mild-hybrid option.

Internationally, the facelifted A4 will come with a hybrid setting including a three 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine and a 12V electric system. When combined, it could provide 150hp to 244hp. Besides, two diesel engine - 191hp, 2.0-litre and a 244hp, 3.0-litre – are also available. Moreover, the mild hybrid version of the 2.0 TDI diesel engine will be separately launched afterwards. The high-performance variant of the A4, S4, will be launched in Europe with only mild hybrid 3.0-litre TDI diesel engine featuring a 48V electric motor. The total power output of this performance-oriented variant rates at 347hp and 700Nm.

With a strong focus on the performance, this particular variant would get all-wheel drive, with sport suspension as standard, and a sport differential and suspension with damper control will be offered as an option. On the standard variant, Audi A4 will get adaptive sport suspension with two modes, Comfort and Sport. The ride height is lowered by 10mm and 23mm in Comfort and Sport mode, respectably. Those systems work with damper control and feature a Comfort mode that lowers the ride height by 10mm and a Sport setting with a 23mm reduction in the ride height.

Exteriorly, A4 will get a wider grille and the character lines are accentuated and more clearly shaped. On the inside, facelifted Audi A4 features Audi MMI infotainment system with a 10.1-inch touchscreen which could be operated by voice. In place of the old rotary controller knobs, the 12.3-inch digital information cluster and heads-up display are available as an option. Moreover, Audi will offer three packages of driving assistance features.

Currently, Audi A4 was available at the price range from Rs 41.49-46.96 lakh. The extensive updates for the India-spec A4 are long-awaited as the ongoing model is ageing compared with their rivals. Updating the A4 is a necessary step to keep up with the market trend. Recently, Audi India has launched the Lifestyle Edition of the A4.
