Audi Q8 Launched In India, Priced At Rs 1.33 Crore

Audi Q8 comes off as a viable competitor to some luxury cars in India including Porsche Cayenne Coupe and upcoming BMW X6.

Audi’s latest flagship SUV-coupe to the Indian lineup, the Audi Q8 has been launched in India at Rs. 1.33 Crore (ex-showroom). The all-new Q8 takes the flag over from the existing Audi Q7, which used to be the largest SUV in Audi's lineup. It enters the market via the CBU routes with a batch of 200 units allotted for the Indian market only.

Being the brand’s first SUV-coupe out in the market, the Audi Q8 carries forward the latest design language of the company’s Q range. As far as the exterior goes, the Audi Q8 features the biggest blacked-out grille we see from the Audi cars so far. It is finished in silver and flanked by a pair of sharp-looking headlamps with Audi’s LED Matrix units.

The sporty 21-inch alloys wheels of the SUV fits very well with the big flared wheel arches. The utmost lavish coupe-inspired roofline and frameless doors are some other prominent design factors that make the Q8 a looker.

The rear end of the Q8 gets an equal level of premium to the front. Following the global trend, it also sports full-width taillamps design that adds more to the cosmetic appeal. Dimension-wise, the Audi Q8 is not the biggest Audi car out there. It measures 4,896 mm long, 1,995 mm wide and 1,705 mm high along with the wheelbase of 2,995 mm.

On the inside, the newly-launched Q8 borrows a host of interior bits from the all-new A8 sedan. Two touchscreen systems are offered in the new Q8, one for the infotainment and the other for the climate control system. The flagship SUV also packs Audi’s Virtual Cockpit instrument console as found in the eighth-gen A6. The AC vents are neatly integrated into a strip running across the width of the car, thereby giving it a sense of minimalism mixed with sportiness and premium. Some major features on the Q8’s interior include connected car technology, four-zone climate control, ambient lighting, cruise control, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, along with a Bang & Olufsen sound system among others.

On the safety front, the Audi Q8 is well-equipped with safety essentials such as 8 airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, tyre-pressure monitoring system, 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, lane departure warning system, and front & rear parking sensors.

The Audi Q8 is propelled by a single 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged petrol engine that comes with a 48-volt mild-hybrid tech as standard. The combined power and torque outputs are 340 PS and 500 Nm. Power is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed DCT and the Quattro AWD system. At Rs 1.33 Crore (ex-showroom), the Audi Q8 comes as a competitor to other luxury SUV models like Porsche Cayenne Coupe, Range Rover Sport, and the upcoming BMW X6.
