BAD NEWS- Maruti Unsure About Launching Suzuki Jimny

The 5-door SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre K15B gasoline engine

The carmaker displayed the 3-door SUV, which can only accommodate 4 passengers at once with no luggage space. To make the SUV a successful product in our market, the carmaker is rumoured to have decided to manufacture a 5-door version of the Jimny exclusively for India.

Moreover, it was being said that the company would offer the mini-SUV in a price bracket of Rs 8 to 10 lakh (ex-showroom) and sell it through Nexa outlets. The new 5-door Jimny is speculated to be named Gypsy to capitalize on the huge fan-following of the moniker in India. The internatioanl-spec SUV is equipped with some modern-day features like a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, steering-mounted controls, keyless entry and automatic headlamps, which is something that makes it more plush than the Gypsy we all know of.

The Suzuki Jimny got a very positive response from the spectators at the 2020 Auto Expo.

In terms of safety, the Suzuki Jimny comes loaded with features like driver & passenger airbags, hill start assist, ABS with EBD, brake assist and ESP. Powering the Suzki Jimny Sierra is a 1.5-litre, four-pot K-series naturally-aspirated petrol engine that puts out 103bhp of peak power and 138 Nm of maximum twisting force. Transmission duties are carried out by either a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed torque converter AT, depending on the option one has chosen. Furthermore, the engine comes coupled with Suzuki’s Advanced 4X4-AllGrip System. With the recent revelation, it now remains to be seen if the carmaker would indeed launch the SUV in India.
