Bentley is recalling more than 6,000 units of the Bentayga over a faulty fuel line coupling. Most of these cars were manufactured during late 2018.

Bentley is a luxury car brand that is known for its bespoke offerings in the automobile markets across the globe. The carmaker has been enjoying the success of its only SUV offering – Bentayga, as the brand has sold over 20,000 units of the SUV globally. In simpler words, the carmaker has sold almost 13 Bentayga SUVs a day since its launch that took place in 2016. The Speed variant of the Bentayga also holds the title for the fastest SUV in the world with a top speed of 301 kmph. In India, the prices for the SUV start at Rs. 3.78 Crores, excluding taxes. This, however, doesn’t mean that nothing can go wrong in this super-expensive and luxurious SUV.

The brand has recalled over one-fourth of the total Bentaygas that are on road. The reason for this recall is the faulty fuel line connector. The issues in fuel line connectors were reported in late 2018. However, it is now that Bentley has announced the recall, claiming that the connector does not meet the design requirements on some Bentaygas. And, in an unfortunate and unexpected occasion, it may lead to a fire in the engine bay.

Considering the engineering expertise and quality checks that goes into producing a Bentley, such an issue is never expected. Nevertheless, it is a commendable move from the carmaker’s part to announce a recall for the cars before an incident is even reported. According to Bentley, the SUVs that were produced in 2018 are the ones that are highly affected. But, only 0.2 per cent units of the MY 2020 Bentaygas are under the scan.

As a part of the recall, Bentley will be changing the quick connector of the fuel line. And, it will be done at no cost, whatsoever, and would hardly take an hour to do so. To upkeep the Bentayga’s exotic and exclusivity quotient alive, Bentley is currently working on giving a mid-life refresh to the SUV. The facelifted Bentayga is expected to make its global debut by the end of this year.
