BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe To Launch On October 15

It is confirmed by BMW that the upcoming BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will hit the Indian market on October 15. BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe will rival the Mercedes Benz A-Class sedan and Audi A3. Within the BMW line-up, the upcoming vehicle will sit below the BMW 3 Series.

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is set to launch on October 15 in India

BMW 2 Series made its first appearance at the LA Auto Show last year. This model went on sale later in some international markets. However, it is not until this year does this model arrive Indian shore. The 2 Series Gran Coupe is based from a front-wheel-drive platform which also underpins the BMW X1.

BMW 2 Series Coupe reflects BMW’s latest design philosophy. For the exterior, the 2 Series Coupe also strongly manifests the coupe-ish design through its sloping roof and sleek pillar-less door. However, the sloping roof for the rear end will limit the headroom for the rear passengers.

The upcoming 2 Series Coupe is 4,526 mm long, 1,800 mm wide and 1,420 mm high. Compared to the Mercedes-Benz A-class, the 2 Series is shorter but wider. The upcoming coupe features a short wheelbase of 2,670 mm against Mercedes-Benz A-class’ 2,729 mm wheelbase. Moreover, the coupe features a 430-litre boot space, which is quite decent for a car of its type.

Under the hood, the 2 Series Gran Coupe will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine that churns out 190 BHP. This diesel-powered version will be called the 220d Gran Coupe. There is also a 192hp 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine on offer. This diesel-run model is named 220i Gran Coupe.

Prices of the upcoming BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is expected to start from around Rs 35 lakh and could go up to Rs 38 lakh (ex-showroom).
