Kia Sonet Bookings to Start from August 7

Kia Sonet is slated to make its global debut on August 7, 2020. At the same day, Kia is expected to also open the bookings for its upcoming sub-four-meter SUV. The compact SUV will go on sale in September this year and will rival the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue,

The compact SUV will be the third offering of the South Korean carmaker in the Indian market. This car will enter the competitive sub-4-metre SUV segment and will be pitted against some of the most highly successful nameplates in the SUV market. India will be the first country to get the Kia Sonet while the launch of the new model will take place in other markets soona after the local debut. 

As per the released details, the Kia Sonet measures 3,995 mm, 1,770 mm and 1,605 mm in length, width and height, respectively. On the outside, the sub-four-meter SUV will feature some likeable highlights like LED headlights, LED DRLs, silver skid plate, black-out pillars, LED tail lights, raked roofline, roof spoiler, and brake light. Inside, the Sonet is well-equipped with a long list of the segment-first and upmarket features. Taking a prime spot on the dashboard will be a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Furthermore, thanks to the UVO Connectivity system, the users will be able to connect the car system with smartphones, thereby allowing a better driving experience. You will get automatic climate control, wireless charging, electric sunroof, keyless entry, 6 airbags and cruise control.

Kia Sonet will have a lot in common with the Hyundai Venue. The upcoming SUV will borrow the platform and the engine options from its Hyundai-sibling. Hence, the upcoming compact SUV will get three choices of engines, including 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine. The non-turbo petrol engine will be mated exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the turbocharged unit will come with two transmission choices, a 6-speed iMT (intelligent manual transmission) and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. For the diesel engine, there will be just one transmission option in the form of a 6-speed manual gearbox. However, it is likely that Kia will introduce an automatic option for the diesel engine in the future. Even though the official booking will only commence after the car is revealed, at this point, some Kia dealers have started accepting pre-launch bookings from customers at a token price of Rs 25,000.
