Maruti Wagon-R S-CNG has been launched in India. Priced at Rs. 5.25 lakh for the entry-level variant, the car claims a fuel-economy figure of 32Km/kg.

With the stricter emission norms approaching fast, Maruti is retiring diesel engines from its entire line-up. In order to appeal to the average Indian consumers who love fuel-economy, the manufacturer will be providing optional factory-fitted CNG-kits on all its cars. This isn't something new, as the company has been providing this opiton in some of its entry-level vehicles. The Maruti WagonR CNG is one such model and in a new development, it has just been updated to achieve compliance with the BS6 norms.

While the Maruti WagonR CNG has just received the quentissential BS6 upgrade, its petrol variants, which come kitted out with 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre motors, were updated a few months back. The 'S-CNG' version, on the other hand, comes with an additional fuel tank that can hold 60-litres of CNG. The company claims a fuel-economy figure of 32.52 km/kg, which would roughly translate to Rs. 1.5 per km. Compared to the petrol-powered variant, which would cost you an equivalent of Rs. 3.5 per km, the CNG version turns out to be a lot more economical. As can be understood from these figures, there are significant savings on the S-CNG-version over the regular one.
