BS6 Nissan Kicks will come with two engine options along with a range of new feature updates. Pre-bookings for the new Nissan Kicks have commenced
Recently, Nissan India announced the introduction of the updated, BS6-ready Kicks SUV for the domestic market. The Japanese automotive company is set to give the Kicks a mid-life update that sports some major tweaks to the engines and the equipment list. While the official launch date of the 2020 Nissan Kicks is yet to be announced, bookings commenced yesterday.
You can pre-book for the new BS6 Kicks from this May 15 while its launch will commence after the lockdown ends.
Earlier this month, the specifications, variants and features of the 2020 Nissan Kicks have been leaked on the social media channel prior to its release. As per the leaked data, the BS6-compliant Kicks will be available in four trim levels including XL, XV, XV Premium and XV Premium (O), making 7 different variants.
Excitingly, the BSVI-compliant Nissan Kicks will be offered with a new 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine that comes paired to a 6-speed MT and a CVT automatic gearbox. This engine will be tuned to produce 156 PS and 254 Nm of peak torque. Besides this, the outgoing 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine will be upgraded to the stringent emission norms.
In its BS4 avatar, the mill is capable of generating 106 PS of max power and 142 Nm of peak torque. With the introduction of the turbo-petrol engine option, the 2020 Nissan Kicks will be the most powerful petrol automatic SUV in its segment. It is comparably more powerful than the equivalent versions of Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta (140 PS/ 242 Nm) or the MG Hector 1.5-litre turbo-petrol model (143 PS/250 Nm). There will be no diesel burner on the Nissan Kicks in the BS6 era.

Nissan also claimed that other than being powerful, the new Kicks will score well in terms of fuel efficiency as well. The updated Kicks is said to deliver a fuel economy figure of 16.3 kmpl for the new petrol model and 14.1 kmpl for the BS6-spec 1.5-litre version.
Nissan is betting much on the new Kicks this time around as apart from the updated engines, the BS6 Kicks will be offered with a segment-first feature being remote engine start function. An idle start/stop system will come to enhance the car’s fuel economy as well. Price of the BS6 Nissan Kicks might be at somewhere between Rs 9.75- 10.0 Lakh (estimated, ex-showroom).
