The 2020 Mahindra TUV300 will carry extensive updates, which will comprise of many cosmetic and mechanical changes. The new TUV300 is even likely to receive upgraded BSVI-compliant engine.

Mahindra & Mahindra has a strong presence in the SUV segment, especially in the sub-four-meter SUV segment. Mahindra currently has two models in this space, including the recently-launched Mahindra XUV300 and the older but less popular Mahindra TUV300. These two models from Mahindra are now competing with other opponents like segment-leading Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, and Tata Nexon.

New Mahindra TUV300 is likely to be introduced in 2020

After the successful launch of the Mahindra XUV300, Mahindra recently introduced the automatic version of this model with an aim to extend the sales number as well as the appeal of this model. Despite the success of the XUV300 in this particular segment, Mahindra will not sleep on the other sub-compact SUV TUV300. Earlier this year, Mahindra has dropped the mild facelift of the TUV300. What’s more, Mahindra TUV300 will be up for the generation updates which will happen next year. The 2020 TUV300 is now spied for the first time, indicating that a comprehensive makeover is about to take off.

On the first spy images, the TUV300 was carefully covered in camouflage. However, it is easy to tell that the new TUV300 will look completely different from the ongoing model. Right on the fascia, the new TUV300 gets a redesigned front grille with thin horizontal slats and honeycomb mesh. The headlight housing is also new. Instead of the boxy shape, the headlight housing now looks curvier with round headlights. The new design of the TUV300 will ditch the squarish lower grille and replace it with an upside-down cascading unit. The fog light clusters are likely to be revised as well. No image of the rear design is available by now but we could totally expect to see a thorough revision on the rear too.

On the inside, it is expected that Mahindra will bring some design elements from the Mahindra XUV300 to the new TUV300. Considering that Mahindra TUV300 is now sharing the same architecture with the Scorpio, the new TUV300 is likely to keep various similarities with the new-gen Scorpio.

Currently, Mahindra TUV300 receives power from the 1.5-litre mHawk four-cylinder diesel engine that could deliver the maximum power of 118 bhp and the peak torque of 280 Nm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It seems likely that Mahindra will keep this engine on the new TUV300. Upgrades will be done to make this engine in line with the new emission norms. More information on the upcoming Mahindra TUV300 will be updated on IndianAuto.com later.
