The new Mahindra XUV500 does not receive major updates except for the required BSVI modifications. However, given that the Mahindra XUV500 was already a fully-equipped vehicle, the lack of comprehensive updates will not concern anyone.

The focal point of the recent upgrade is the new powertrain offerings. Mahindra has made changes to the old 2.0-litre petrol engine which previously powered the BSVI version. The updated engine is capable of making a top power of 155 PS and a maximum torque of 360 Nm. While the BSIV version was offered with both manual and automatic version, the BSVI-compliant model is available only with the 6-speed manual gearbox.

In the meanwhile, Mahindra XUV500 is developing an all-new Mahindra XUV500, which is expected to sport more extensive updates. A new 2.0-litre petrol engine with turbocharger and direct injection technology will be on offer. Moreover, besides the existing 6-speed manual gearbox, the new XUV500 will receive a new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. In addition, a new 2.2-litre diesel will also be available on the new XUV500.
