Tata 45X concept-based model, the Tata Altroz will make its official debut on the 15th of July, 2019.

Tata Motors will be introducing the first-ever premium hatch, the Tata Altroz to the Indian market on July 15, 2019. Ahead of the official unveiling, the car has made various public presences, from the concept version at Auto Expo 2018 to the near-production form at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Tata has already started testing the Altroz on the Indian roads multiple times, and recently, the hatchback has been spotted on test once again, showing its readiness to take its wraps off in front of the Indian enthusiasts.

The all-new Tata Altroz is all set to make its showcase in India on July 15, 2019.

Anticipated to spice up things in terms of sales of the home-grown carmaker which has been going downhill due to buyers’ negative sentiments in recent times, the all-new Altroz appears to be a very convincing model with the ALFA-ARC architecture that it’s based on. As such, the new Altroz will be the first car to be developed on this new modular platform, followed by the Tata H2X entry-level SUV at a later time. Besides, it will be pinned on the company’s latest IMPACT 2.0 design philosophy which also underpins the popular Tata Harrier.

Ahead of its debut, the new Altroz was revealed inside-out thanks to a set of spy images.

Since the new Tata Altroz will be positioned higher than the Tata Tiago and Tigor in the company’s product line-up, the new hatchback is expected to gain a plethora of premium features both inside and out. Exterior wise, the highly-awaited Altroz is likely to get projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights as well as electrically-controlled ORVMs. On the inside, the hot hatch is expected to come with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, automatic temperature control, analogue-digital instrument panel along with rear AC vents among others.

Tata's first premium hatchback, the Altroz will come with many advanced features and employ BSVI-compliant petrol engine option.

While a petrol engine option has been confirmed for the new model, it’s yet to know if Tata Motors could bring in a diesel engine option for the Altroz or not. The gasoline burner under consideration is a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder unit which might develop two states of tune, namely 85 BHP and 102 BHP, depending on the variants. It is also possible to come with a 1.5-litre diesel motor retained from the Nexon, but the official statement is still a while away. Transmission packages should comprise a 5-speed MT for the petrol engine option and a 6-speed MT for the diesel variant. The automated manual transmission is expected to come at a later stage.

Prices of the new Tata Altroz might sit between Rs 5.5 Lakh and Rs 8.5 Lakh (ex-showroom) to make it competitive enough to rival the likes of Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 and the newly-launched Toyota Glanza.
