Volkswagen India is offering a brilliant finance scheme for its latest, BSVI-compliant, Polo hatchback.

Indian auto industry is in turmoil right now. For the first time in the history of our country, all carmakers have reported zero sales figures in April 2020. Companies are working hard to hoping for a revival once the lockdown ends, but that might take quite a while. Recently, automakers have ventured into online buying and home-delivery of cars, which was quite a smart decision. Apart from that, some manufacturers have also announced extremely lucrative finance options, like in the case of Volkswagen Polo.

Volkswagen India has announced a very tempting scheme for new customers. You can choose to pay a down payment of Rs. 2 lakh, and then choose to start EMI payments 12 months later. In principle, this works in a way similar to EMI deferment for one complete year. The loan is capped, o prevent interest rates from spiking later, and you get up to 70 per cent On-Road finance (with a 30 per cent down payment, obviously). Apart from that, you also get a cash discount worth Rs. 15,000 along with an additional corporate discount worth Rs. 3,000. The ex-showroom price of the 2020 Volkswagen Polo starts from Rs. 5.82 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs. 13.29 lakh.

2020 Volkswagen Polo has recently received a few significant updates following its adoption of BS-VI emission norms. The first change is the discontinuation of diesel engines. Similar to Maruti, Volkswagen has decided that the cost to upgrade a BS4-compliant diesel engine to BS6 norms would be too expensive, and thus scrapped the diesel car line-up altogether.

The second change is the downsizing of the turbo-petrol variant. Previously, Polo TSI was powered by a 1.2-litre, inline-4, turbocharged engine. The new one gets a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol instead. Surprisingly, the smaller engine is more powerful than the older one.

The third change pertains to the transmission. Where the older car offered with only a 7-speed DSG automatic for the turbo-petrol model, the new one gets a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor. The lower variants (powered by 1.0-litre, naturally aspirated, inline-3 petrol engines) continue to be offered with a 6-speed manual only.
