Chinese Carmaker Great Wall Motors To Establish Rs 7,000 Crore Facility in Gujarat

Great Wall Motors is expected to enter the India market in 2021. The company will set up a plant in Gujarat with an investment of over Rs 7,000 crores.

Recently, the India automobile market has just welcomed two newcomers, MG Motor and Kia Motor. In the near feature, there will be the entrance of a new brand from China, the Great Wall Motors. Recently, it has been reported that the Chinese car manufacturer is planning to establish a new facility in Gujarat for its subsidiary – Haval India. Reportedly, the company will invest $ 1 billion (approximately Rs 7,000 crores) in the construction of the new Gujarat-based plant.

Some recent reports suggest that Great Wall Motors is going to showcase its first India-spec model at the 2020 Auto Expo, which will take place from February 7 to 12 next year. With its new mega facility, Great Wall Motors will engage in manufacturing both fuel-powered vehicles and electric vehicles. Recently, Great Wall Motors’ representatives had a meeting with the government officials to present its long-term plans and strategy. Earlier, the car manufacturer had earned approval from the Indian government to build its facility in the Chinese industrial park nearby the auto manufacturing zone in Sanand. Before setting up its first manufacturing facility, Great Wall Motors has already invested $ 1.6 million to build its Gurgaon-based head-quarter in India.

Haval India is expected to introduce its first model at the 2020 Auto Expo

It is believed that Great Wall Motors will kick off its business in the Indian market with the launch of the Haval H6 SUV. If it is true, its first SUV will arrive sometime in 2021. In the international market, Haval is known for its range of pick-up vehicles. In its mother country, China, Haval is the biggest pick-up and SUV manufacturer. On the other hand, Wey, another car brand owned by Great Wall Motors is targeting at the premium pickup truck market. The current global portfolio of the Haval includes only four models, a compact SUV H2, coupe H6, mid-size SUV H6, premium SUV H8 and a seven-seater SUV H8.
