Citroen Berlingo MPV Spied Once Again - VIDEO

Citroen is getting ready to enter the Indian market with the Citroen C5 Aircross that is about to launch soon. After the debut of the C5 Aircross, Citroen has a plan to introduce a few models for the Indian market as well. One of those might the Citroen Berlingo MPV. This model has been spotted during testing on Indian roads a few times before, indicating that the MPV might be brought to India. Citroen has yet commented about the news.

Recently, the Berlingo MPV was spotted in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh without disguise. However, there is a chance that the Berlingo is used as a testbed for the use of components and powertrains for other upcoming models. Some sources suggest that the Berlingo is used to test the 1.2-litre turbocharged engine that will power the Citroen CC21 sub-compact SUV. At the moment, the French car brand is focusing on C-Cube vehicles which don’t include Berlingo. It also means that Berlingo is unlikely to enter the Indian market any time soon.

While the future of this MPV in the Indian market is not decided yet, let’s go through all the details of the Berlingo that we know by far. From the spied images, the MPV features horizontally-split headlights, signature trapezoidal air vents on the front. For the side profile, the Berlingo comes with blacked-out A-pillars, side cladding with white trapezoidal elements, creating a funky look for the exterior. The rear end is completed with vertically stacked taillights.

Citroen Berlingo was spied during testing in India

On the international market, the Citroen Berlingo is based on the EMP2 platform. It is offered in two versions, Berlingo and Berlingo XL. The former (4.4 meters) is shorter than the latter (4.75 meters). The spied model seems to be the Berlingo XL with an extended body. Citroen Berlingo is available with two engines, a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. These engines options are good for 110 BHP and 130 BHP, respectively.

In a related new, Citroen’s first model in India, C5 Aircross, will go on sale later this month or early next month. Since this model is imported as a CKD model, it will be very pricey. Following the C5 Aircross, Citroen will launch the second product, the CC21 sub-compact SUV.
