The Citroen C5 AirCross has been spotted testing prior to its launch next year. Once launched in the Indian auto market, the SUV will compete with the Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and Jeep Compass.

Groupe PSA was ready to come to the Indian auto market with the Citroen C5 Aircross this year. However, the French automaker has decided to defer the launch of the SUV until early 2021. Recently, however, two test mules have been spied testing in Tamil Nadu, with the latest sighting disclosing some important information about the India-bound model. Two spotted test mules are probably India-spec models since the trial assembly of several C5 Aircross units has been commenced at CK Birla’s facility in Tamil Nadu. Until now, only CBU versions of the SUV were spied testing on Indian roads. The C5 Aircross, however, will come to India as a CKD unit.

As seen, one test mule gets a white paint scheme while the other features a black one. The C5 Aircross comes with an unorthodox styling philosophy. The car features a split headlight in the front and rectangular LED taillights in the rear. The SUV features Citroen’s Airbump door and wheel arch protectors which not only give it a funky appearance but also protect the lower part of the door from undesirable knocks.

As regards the interior, the C5 Aircross is expected to be a single fully-loaded SUV. Therefore, such features as a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an electrically adjustable driver seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, a hands-free tailgate and an electronic parking brake, etc. are expected to be offered.

The Citroen C5 AirCross is expected to be equipped with a wide range of top-notch features.

The Citroen C5 Aircross is anticipated to keep under its hood a 2.0-litre oil burner which can generate 80 PS and is mated to an 8-speed torque converter. Whether a petrol version of the C5 Aircross will be introduced to the Indian auto market remains to be seen. The SUV is expected to be priced at around INR 30 lakh.
