Facelifted 2018 Datsun Go and Go+ Launched in India at Rs 3.29 Lakh

The 2018 Datsun Go and Go+ have just been released into the Indian auto market with some cosmetic tweaks and some advanced features.

1. General information

Since their first launch in India, it is the first time that Datsun Go and Go+ have got an update. With the cosmetic upgrades and additional features, the Datsun Go become the car with the most features in the hatchback segment while the Datsun Go+ remains its position of the most reasonably-priced MPV in Indian auto market. With the two facelifted models, it is expected that Datsun can compete more effectively with other automakers in India.

The price of the Datsun Go and Go+ start at Rs 3.29 Lakhs and Rs 3.83 Lakhs, respectively. The prices have been reduced by Rs 9,000 for the GO and by Rs 12,000 for the GO+. The vehicles will be delivered to their showrooms across India from today.

2. Thoroughly updated exterior

In terms of the exterior, the updates include

  • Sharp creases on the bonnet

  • Body coloured outside rear-view mirror

  • Refreshed set of bumpers with vertical LED daytime running lamps,

  • Bigger brand-new 14-inch diamond cut alloy wheels with thicker 165/70-section tyres instead of 13-inch 155/70 steel ones offered with the top-of-the-line variants.

  • Revised grille in the front and the rear

  • Brand-new colour options:  Amber Orange and Sunset Brown for the Go and Go+, respectively.

All of these contribute to the energetic appearance of the Go and Go+.

3. Comprehensively modernized interior

As regards the interior, despite the unchanged cabin colour mixture and layout, the Datsun Go and Go+ are equipped with a wide range of new cutting-edge features such as

  • A novel touchscreen infotainment system measuring 7 inches which support voice recognition, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity

  • Rectangular AC vents in the place of conventional circular ones

  • Power windows, washer and wiper in the rear

  • Lockable glove box

  • A newly-designed and more premium centre console

  • USB charging port

  • Twin airbags, driving seatbelt reminder Anti-lock Braking System with electronic brakeforce limitation and parking sensors in the rear provided as standard safety features across all variants to comply with the BNVSAP (Bharat new vehicle safety assessment program) to be implemented next year.

4. Unchanged engine, transmission and mileage

The Datsun Go and Go+ will be powered by the traditional 1.2-litre petrol engine with three cylinders, which can produce 68PS of max power and 104Nm of peak torque. To customers’ expectations, Datsun has refrained from equipping its vehicles with an AMT or CVT transmission. The power will continue to be spread to all of the four wheels by a 5-speed manual transmission like the previous models.

The Datsun Go and Go+'s mileage is claimed to be 19.83 kmpl, which can be decreased to 16 kmpl on real-road conditions and 18kmpl on the expressway.

5. Competitors

The Datsun Go can compete with the Tata Tiago, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Celerio and the forthcoming Hyundai Santro projected to be launched on October 2018. On the other hand, the Datsun Go+ seem to have no direct rivals since it is equipped with a lot of advanced features and also one of the seven most reasonably-priced 7-seaters MPVs in the India auto market at present.
