The Honda City facelift has been developed and will enter Indian auto market by 2020.

The 2020 City facelift is believed to be currently produced at Tapukara plant of Honda in Rajasthan. So far, few details have been revealed about the new-gen City, but it is expected to feature an angular look like the forthcoming Honda Civic, which will be launched in the first half of 2019.  Moreover, it is also likely to have smoother and exceptional design borrowed from such global models of Honda as new Insight or Accord.

The current platform of the Honda City will also be updated. Some new interior features including a novel touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity are supplemented.

In terms of engine and performance, the 2020 Honda City will possibly be powered by BSIV compliant engines, probably the developed version of the 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel and 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol engines. The current 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine produces 99bhp of power and 200Nm of torque while the 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol engine can deliver up to 118bhp of power and 145Nm of torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed CVT for the diesel moved. A CVT option is considered to be offered for the diesel-powered version of the 2020 City.

It is also reported that a hybrid version of the City is also being developed by Honda and will utilize a gentle hybrid technology to control the price. Equipped with petrol-hybrid powerplant, the 2020 Honda City can churn out a mileage of approximately 25kmpl.

Although no official agenda has been confirmed, the new 2020 Honda City is projected to be exhibited at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo and then be launched in the same year.

Because of the updates as well as the combination of the automatic CVT and the novel petrol-hybrid engine, the price of the 2020 City will likely experience a price hike in comparison with the existing one.
