First Citroen C5 Aircross Rolled Out Thiruvallur Plant Ahead Launch

Citroen C5 Aircross is set to go on sale this year. The launch of this model will also mark the entry of the European car brand in India. Groupe PSA expects that Citroen will be able to have a strong impact and generate good sales in the Indian automotive market. Ahead of the launch, Citroen has unveiled the C5 Aircross model. Recently, the first units of the India-spec Citroen C5 Aircross have rolled out of production at its Thiruvallur plant in Tamil Nadu, getting ready for the upcoming launch.

Citroen C5 Aircross is ready to hit the showrooms in March

In terms of styling, the C5 Aircross gets a unique look which easily sets it apart from other vehicles in the segment. The front end of the C5 Aircross looks futuristic with a horizontally-slatted grille that connects seamlessly with the headlights. Unlike other SUVs with boxy and upright styling, the C5 Aircross looks less intimidating with curvy and roundish designs.

On the inside, the Citroen gets a dual-tone dashboard, leather seat upholstery, vertically positioned AC vents, panoramic sunroof, reclining modular rear seats along with multiple steering wheel. To compete with other fierce competitors in the market, the Citroen C5 Aircross is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay, Android Auto support, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control. Other features include engine start/stop, hill hold assist, multiple airbags, grip control system, blind-spot monitoring, park assist, foot-operated electric tailgate, and more. One of the highlight features on the C5 Aircross is the “Flying Carpet Effect” that allows the Progressive Hydraulic Cushion suspension to iron out the road bumps and provide better comfort.

Citroen C5 Aircross will be available with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine and an 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox

Under the hood, the Citroen C5 Aircross is confirmed to get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel unit. Paired to an 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox, this petrol engine is good for 178 bhp/400 Nm. It comes with a shift-by-wire system, which is believed to boost fuel efficiency and improve the ride quality. Idle start-stop is also provided in order to maximize the fuel economy.

After launching the C5 Aircross, Citroen intents to introduce an affordable SUV codenamed C21 next. At launch, C5 Aircross will take on the like of Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, and Jeep Compass Trailhawk. Prices of the upcoming SUV is likely to start around Rs 30 lakh.
