There are at least five upcoming seven seater cars in India that will launch soon, these include the Tata Buzzard, MG Hector, Renault RBC, Maruti Ertiga GT Sport, and a new Toyota-Suzuki MPV

The increasing popularity of seven-seater models has prompted car manufacturers to introduce more models into the segment. Here are the top five Upcoming Seven Seater Cars in India that will launch in the coming times.

Upcoming Seven Seater Cars in India

Tata Buzzard (Cassini)

The first vehicle in our list of Upcoming Seven Seater Cars in India is the Tata Buzzard (aka Tata Cassini). The Buzzard was unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It is the seven-seater version of the Tata Harrier which just arrived the scene last year. Thanks to the flexible OMEGA platform, Tata could expand the original Harrier to a bigger SUV with seven seats.

Also, this seven-seater will inherit genes of the Harrier in most aspect - same platform, similar design language and same engine setting. Basically, the Buzzard will carry forward the interior and exterior of the Harrier with some changes to fit the bigger seat capacity. For example, the sloping roof will be revised for better headroom for the third row. On the other hand, the same 2.0-litre diesel engine from the Harrier will be tuned for higher output to be compatible with seven-seater. If on the Harrier, the oil burner could unpack 140PS, the Buzzard is able to put out 173PS. At the moment, it might come with only manual transmission, just like the Harrier. But automatic transmission could be expected.

MG Hector

MG Hector is the first attempt from the British car brand in the India market. This seven seater is built on the China-bound Baojun 530. When making its way to the India market, the MG Hector will receive some exterior changes on the front face including a new MG grille, revised front and rear bumper. The side look will also be updated with new alloy wheels. The interior is also kept mostly unchanged. At first, MG Motor will launch the five-seater version first. In the later stage, a seven-seater will possibly on offered for the India market.

For the five-seater MG Hector, it will share the 2.0 diesel engine with the Jeep Compass and the Tata Harrier. Another 1.5-litre engine is available on the petrol version. Its seven-seater version is likely to keep the engine line-up but with a more powerful output.

Renault RBC

Renault RBC is the codename for the new MPV that is currently developed by Renault. It is built on the CMF-A platform that underpins the hatchback Kwid. As usual, Renault is much likely to keep the price competitive and the Renault RBC is expected to sit on the entry level MPV segment.

The MPV will share many things in common with the Renault Kwid in order to keep the price in control. Minor exterior changes could be expected. For example, it will get bigger headlamps and new taillamp housing. But when it comes to the interior and features, it is likely to be the same. The production RBC will come with features like touchscreen infotainment system, reverse parking sensor. Safety features will include dual airbags, ABS and EBD. A 1.0-litre petrol engine would power the RBC. Both manual and automatic gearbox would be on offer. The Renault RBC will be the most affordable of all the Upcoming Seven Seater Cars in India.

Maruti Ertiga GT Sport

Maruti Ertiga came back with the generation updates last year. It has been doing well in terms of sales. Among other Maruti’s model, the Ertiga’s sale seems to be underwhelming but in regards to the overall MPV segment, Ertiga is still one of the segment-leading models. Considering the success of the Ertiga, Maruti is planning to expand the line-up of the Ertiga with the new Ertiga GT Sport.

With the new GT Sport variant, Maruti comes with minor exterior updates. The front and rear bumper, as well as the grille, would be revised while spoiler and side skirts are added. There will also be new black alloy wheels on the GT Sport. The Ertiga GT Sport is expected to come with more premium features. The Ertiga GT Sport might get 1.5-litre diesel and petrol engines under the hood. Both of them will be mated to a manual gearbox.

New Toyota-Suzuki MPV

The last car in our list of Upcoming Seven Seater Cars in India is a rather interesting one. Actually, Toyota and Suzuki have established an expansive partnership starting with the upcoming launch of the Toyota-badged Baleno. In the later stage, Toyota and Maruti will collaborate in developing a C-segment MPV. This MPV is expected to sit above the Ertiga and below Toyota Innova Crysta, a best-selling MPV of Toyota. At launch, the MPV will compete against the Maruti Marazzo. To attract customers, this is expected to be a well-equipped MPV with premium features

Toyota will develop this model with help from Maruti. And in return, this MPV will be provided for Maruti later. About the powertrain option, this MPV is expected to come powered by a diesel engine that is paired with either manual or automatic gearbox.
