A leak of the 2021 Ford Bronco’s gauge cluster hints that there's very much a hybrid version in pipeline, which is something in line with a comment from Ford CEO Jim Hackett

Ford was surprisingly evasive about the possible introduction of an electrified version of the 2021 Bronco. Now, just a few days after the global debut of the all-new Ford Bronco, a leak seems to hint that the electrified Broncos are coming. Well, it has been known since May 2019 that Ford is working on the electrified Bronco as Ford’s CEO Jim Hackett revealed that “it is adding hybrid electrics to high-volume, profitable vehicles like Explorer and the new exciting Bronco.” And Hackett’s statement seems to be bolstered by the leak of the new Bronco’s gauge cluster displaying graphics that’s not proper for the internal-combustion vehicle.

A video uploaded by Input channel shows the new SYNC system and animated control features of the 2021 Ford Bronco. On one screen, we can see a dial reading “EV coaching” that certainly suggests that there’s a hybrid drivetrain under development for the all-new Bronco - why on earth should the new Ford Bronco get an “EV Coaching” reading if it doesn't feature any sort of battery power?

As per other parts of the video, we can confirm that the interface here is for the Ford Bronco, not the Ford Bronco Sport. However, despite the leaked video, the American auto giant has declined to outright confirm on the arrival of the electrified version for the Bronco.

“We’re excited by the interest in the all-new Bronco’s digital gauges and look forward to sharing more information later. As we announced Monday, the 2.3-litre and 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine lineup is best suited to support customers’ off-roading needs,” said Ford’s spokesperson, Sam Schembari.

Only time can tell if the more efficient version of the Bronco will be introduced in near future. If it can, it may be a suitable answer from Ford to the Bronco’s audiences who may complain about the fuel economy of the regular car.

As for the regular 2021 Ford Bronco, the capable off-roader has just come back after 24 years, bringing in a 270 BHP 2.3-litre 4-cylinder engine along with a 310 BHP 2.7-litre V6 motor. As for the Indian market, the Bronco’s key competitor, the Jeep Wrangler has entered India a while back but there’s no information on the new Bronco's local introduction. However, we’re still excited enough to wait for the upcoming Ford SUVs that will be developed in partnerships with Mahindra. These include a Hyundai Creta-rival and a premium SUV based on new-gen Mahindra XUV500.
