Ford Bronco Pickup Truck To Compete Against Jeep Gladiator

Ford Bronco Pickup Truck could be made available in only a crew cab configuration to compete against the Jeep Gladiator.

Several days ago, Ford disclosed that the brand name Bronco would return after almost a 25-year absence. The new Bronco will be available in two-door, four-door and Bronco Sport configurations. While the new-gen Ford Bronco will borrow the conventional body-on-frame configuration from the Ranger, the Sport version will share the uni­-body construction with the Escape.

The 2021 Ford Bronco First Edition’s bookings have been filled in only a few hours after the official bookings commenced, which results in its production being increased from 3,500 to 7,000 units to satisfy the demands. Recently, a pickup truck version of the Ford Bronco has been reported to in the development process to compete against the Jeep Gladiator.

Considering the fact that the Ford Bronco has received tremendous attention, the American automaker is expected to speed up the Bronco pickup truck’s development as well, which could lead it to be launched in 2022 instead of the conventionally expected launch in 2024. Like the Jeep Gladiator, the Ford Bronco pickup truck is reported to be available in only the crew cab configurations with the same set of features as the standard version.

Once launched, the Ford Bronco pickup truck will compete against the Jeep Gladiator.

As regards the powertrains and transmission options, the current 2.3-litre and 2.7-litre EcoBoost motors are likely to serve as the power source for the Ford Bronco pickup truck. While the former can deliver 270 HP against 420 Nm, the latter can generate 310 HP against 542 Nm. In the foreseeable future, the Bronco off-road SUV is expected to be offered in a Raptor variant which keeps under its hood a 2.0-litrte EcoBoost V6 motor. The vehicle is reported to get a 5.0-litre V8 motor as well. Like the standard version, the pickup truck one is likely to come with a 10-speed AT which will send the power to its four wheels. The Ford Bronco pickup truck could gain a clear benefit over the Jeep Gladiator in terms of the pricing as the base model is expected to carry an aggressive price of about $30,000 (around INR 22.45 lakh).
