Ford EcoSport is the US carmaker's best-selling vehicle in India. It's annual sales surpass the combined sales of other cars in Ford's arsenal.

Ford EcoSport is the car that helped the subcompact SUV segment shoot to popularity. It enjoyed immense demand back in the day, but when the competition stiffened, the SUV started to lose consumer interest. With Maruti, and more recently, Hyundai entering the segment, the EcoSport lost a huge chunk of its share in the segment. Still, the EcoSport remains Ford’s most popular model in India, more so than all others in its line-up, combined!

Last year, Ford Motor Company had sold the majority stake of its Indian branch to Mahindra, and both manufacturers have entered a JV for the Indian market. The upcoming Ford vehicles are expected to feature the same engines and platform as Mahindra SUVs.

Earlier this year, Ford had upgraded its entire line-up in India from BSIV to BSVI compliance. While all the cars only feature minor engine changes and deletions in the equipment list, Ford Endeavor has received a completely new engine and better equipment than before. It now features a 2.0-litre turbocharged (EcoBlue) inline-4 diesel engine, paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The car also gets Ford Pass tech connected car features. Ford and Mahindra also seem to be working on a new sub-compact SUV as well as a new compact SUV for the Indian market.
