Ford EcoSport SE is finally launched at the price of Rs 10.49 lakh. The new trim of the compact SUV comes with a unique design that set it apart from the regular version.

Ford has finally launched the Ford EcoSport SE in India. The new trim is offered with both petrol and diesel variant. With this new trim, Ford offers some new styling elements that distinguish it from the standard version.

Exteriorly, one of the most talking points of the new EcoSport SE is its redesigned rear fascia. The tailgate-mounted spare wheel is removed to make way for a cleaner design. Ford also added a thick chrome bar above the number plate in place of the old spare wheel. There is also a new silver skid plate for the Ford EcoSport SE. Still, the tailgate of the EcoSport remains to be a hinged unit like the standard model. The rear end design is the key difference that tells the SE from the rest of the range.

Based on the Titanium trim, the Ford EcoSport SE comes with some upmarket features like 16-inch alloy wheels, sunroof, automatic HID headlights, LED DRLs, 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, SYNC 3 infotainment system. However, it will not come with all bells and whistles as the top-spec S trim does. It also means that the EcoSport SE is not available with features like side and curtain airbags, ESC, traction control, hill-start assist, auto-dimming IRVM, auto wipers, cruise control, and leatherette seat cover. In terms of safety, the SE trim is fitted with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear camera and rear wiper and defogger.

It should be noted that Ford EcoSport SE, owing to the removal of tailgate-mounted spare whee, will not carry any kind of spare wheel at all, which totally conforms to the transport regulations. In fact, passenger vehicles under the M1 category that are equipped with tubeless tires, tire pressure monitoring system, and puncture repair kit as the EcoSport SE does, are not required to come with factory-fitted spare wheel.

Under the hood, the Ford EcoSport SE is offered with both petrol and diesel engines, including a 1.5-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. These engines deliver a maximum power of 123 BHP and 100 BHP, respectively. Both of these engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The prices of the EcoSport SE petrol and diesel are Rs 10.49 lakh and Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom price), respectively. The EcoSport is facing stiff competition from other compact SUVs in the segment like Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Tata Nexon.
