The 2021 Ford Equator will be powered by a 2.0-litre EcoBoost turbo petrol making 221 HP of max power. The new Ford Equator will rival the likes of Jeep Grand Commander, Hyundai Palisade, etc.

Ford is all set to launch an all-new seven-seat SUV, the Equator in the Chinese market. The 2021 Ford Equator has been recently revealed through a set of leaked images. Coming under the joint venture between Ford and Jiangling, the 2021 Equator is reported to go on sale in China in the first quarter of 2021.

Being a full-size 7-seater SUV, the 2021 Ford Equator will measure 4,905 mm long, 1,930 mm wide, 1,755 mm high along with the wheelbase of 2,865 mm. Interestingly, the styling design of the Ford Equator is rather unique. The upcoming 7-seater SUV doesn’t follow the American brand’s global design philosophy and in spite of its humongous size, the SUV has excellently hidden the sense of awkward bulk from the visual standpoint.

At the front, the Equator features a large chrome-accentuated front grille that is flanked by LED headlamps along with low-set auxiliary lights that serve as the fog lamps. However, the sheet metal design looks a bit understated while the straight character lines make it look a tad mundane as well.

There’s a large-sized windshield at the rear. The LED taillights connected by a light bar, an EQUATOR script under the Blue Oval, tailgate-mounted license number plate, and dual tailpipes are some other interesting design elements on the outside of the vehicle.

Details on the interior of the 2021 Ford Equator are still under the wraps now. However, we expect the new Equator to come as a very feature-rich 7-seater SUV to compete with its rivals in the segment. A touchscreen infotainment system, leather seats, multi-zone temperature control, airbags together with a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) features, are to name some prominent interior bits.

On the mechanical front, the 2021 Ford Equator will be powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder EcoBoost turbo-petrol engine good for a maximum power of 221 HP. Transmission duties are handled by both 5-speed manual and automatic options. Expect the new Ford Equator to be available in both RWD and 4x4 configurations. Once launched in China, the 2021 Ford Equator will fare against the likes of Jeep Grand Commander, Chevrolet Tahoe, and Hyundai Palisade, etc. For that reason, it is also expected that the Ford Equator price in India will be kept low. Nevertheless, it is very unlikely that the 2021 Ford Equator could reach our shores in the coming time.
