Ford India Recorded Highest Domestic Wholesales In 2018

Ford India recorded a 15% increase in domestic sales last month and 12% last year.

The total number of vehicles sold for both domestic and foreign markets of Ford India reached 24,420 units last month, in comparison with 29,795 units in the same period last year. Although the total sales have decreased, the domestic wholesales of the automaker in December 2018 were 5,840 units while the figure for December 2017 was 5,087 vehicles. Exports remarkably reduced with the figures for December 2018 and 2017 were 18,580 vehicles and 24,708 vehicles, respectively.

In the whole year of 2018, Ford experienced a slight increase in both domestic and exports sales by selling 265,714 units in total as compared to 262,784 units in 2017. Noteworthily, domestic wholesales in 2018 was 97,804 units, which is 12% more than those in 2017. The last year also marked a milestone with the best domestic wholesales ever in Ford India’s history since it entered the market in 1995.

Commenting on this significant milestone Anurag Mehrotra, president and managing director, Ford India stated,

 “2018 was a turnaround year for Ford in India as we consistently delivered on our strategy of Strong Brand, Right Product, Competitive Cost and Effective Scale to strengthen our commitment to India. Despite headwinds due to regulatory and economic changes in India and export markets, we are confident of keeping the momentum in 2019. In India, we are confident of growing better than the industry and bringing many more customers to the Ford fold to experience the promise of transparency and differentiated experience.”

The Ford Figo facelift is scheduled to be launched this year. The new-gen Figo will take the design cues and borrow some updated features from the newly facelifted Aspire. Under the hood of the new Figo are a 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel motors. The car may be also available with a CNG version as well.
