Ford is currently working on six new cars for the Indian market. The carmaker has plans to launch all these new vehicles within the next couple of years

Right now, Ford India iis offering a very limited number of cars in our market. The vehicle line-up consists of Figo, Freestyle, Aspire, EcoSport and Endeavour. Nevertheless, the automaker is said to be developing 3 new SUVs for our market. All these 3 new models, will sit between the EcoSport and the Endeavour and will be joined by other new models that will launch in future. While we do have some details of these SUVs, we are not sure what the other three cars are. However, what's for sure is that thanks to forming a JV with Mahindra, the carmaker will now increase its focus on other segments.

Ford has already covered segments like premium hatchback, compact sedan and compact SUV, so there are still three mainstream segments left. A few reports earlier suggested that Ford is also working on the new-gen EcoSport. Most likely, the automaker will also develop a new 4.2 meter-long SUV to compete with likes of Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.

This segment is among the most popular car segments in the country. Many car manufacturers are slowly moving towards this segment. After that, an all-new mid-size SUV is also in the pipeline that will rub shoulders with the likes of MG Hector, Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier and Jaap Compass. The Ford mid-size SUV will borrow its platform along with the engine options from the new-gen Mahindra XUV500.

Moreover, Ford is also working towards introducing an electric vehicle. The new electric car will be one of other cars headed our way. The automaker has already updated its car line-up as per the new BS6 emission norms. While the carmaker has updated many of its engines to comply with the new emission norms, it has discontinued the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine offered with EcoSport, 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre oil-burners offered with the Endeavour and 1.5-litre gasoline engine offered with Figo and Aspire. The latter even lose out on the automatic gearbox options.
