Tata will introduce an Altroz-based mid-size sedan after the launch of the HBX micro SUV. The upcoming C2-sedan is expected to be named as Peregrin.

Tata Motors is constantly putting efforts to increase its market share. The carmaker has made a good start to the year 2020 with launching Nexon EV along with the Altroz premium hatchback. Moreover, the automaker has introduced the mid-life facelifts for Tiago, Tigor and Nexon. A few weeks back, the carmaker also launched the 2020 Harrier in the domestic market. The mid-size SUV was updated with a more potent engine, automatic gearbox and a panoramic sunroof.

The Tata Altroz-based sedan will compete with the likes of Hyundai Verna and Maruti Ciaz

Tata is currently working on 10 new products which are expected to get launched within the next four years. The first one will be the HBX micro-SUV. The car was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and is expected to hit the Indian shores by the end of this year. Once launched, it’ll compete with the likes of Maruti Ignis and Mahindra KUV100.

After this, Tata Motors will launch the Peregrine sedan in our market to rival with the likes of Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Maruti Ciaz. The upcoming Cq-segment sedan by Tata will share its design cues with the Altroz and the E-Vision concept, which was showcased by the automaker at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The all-new mid-size sedan will be underpinned by Tata’s ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) platform.

The sedan is expected to derive power from a petrol and diesel engine

The premium sedan will derive power from Tata Nexon’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol mill that produces 120 PS of peak power and 170 Nm of twisting force. The sedan will also be offered with a 1.5-litre oil-burner, which puts out power and torque outputs of 110 PS and 260 Nm. Even the diesel motor for the new sedan currently does duties in the Nexon. One can expect the upcoming sedan to get retailed at a starting price of Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, Tata Peregrine will go on to become the most premium production-spec sedan from Tata Motors ever.
