The new teaser of GMC Hummer EV confirms that the electrified Hummer will go on sale in SUV and pickup truck version with an Infinity Roof. Check here for more details.

Hummer was once a well-known truck and SUV manufacturer in the automotive industry. However, during the first decade of the 21st century, the car brand felt from its grace and its products were finally discontinued in 2010. Until recently, General Motors announced that it will revive the Hummer nameplate by introducing an electric Hummer SUV. This vehicle will mark not only the return of the iconic SUV but also the debut of the first electric SUV of the brand. However, GMC brand has recently shared a preview video of the new SUV via its YouTube channel.

Interestingly, this time around the brand has confirmed that the electric Hummer platform will adopt two body styles - SUV and pickup truck. As per the previous announcement by General Motors, the revived all-electric Hummer brand will be unveiled in May. However, owing to the ongoing pandemic, the unveiling event was delayed until the third quarter of 2020. After a long time of waiting, the premiere date of the Hummer EV is approaching. To this point, we have gained more knowledge of the new car.

According to GMC, the development of the new Hummer is going as planned and likely to go on sale in the third quarter of 2021. The upcoming Hummer EV is claimed to be the “world’s first super truck”. According to the latest reveal, the new SUV and pickup truck will be capable of belting out a top power of 1,014 Bhp and peak torque of 15,592 Nm, which basically justifies GMC’s bold statement. This super truck can run from 0 to 100 kmph in 3 seconds. To generate such powerful performance, the Hummer will employ a new Ultium battery pack that can deliver a range of over 644 km per charge.

In the latest teaser, it is revealed that the pickup truck will come with a new feature called infinity roof. With a glass panel roof, it will allow the car occupants to enjoy open and airy space. As per the teaser video, it appears that the new Hummer will be strongly inspired by the design of the iconic Hummer H2 which was discontinued back in 2009.

To enhance the performance of this super electric SUV, the manufacturer will include an Adrenaline driving mode which is GMC’s answer to Tesla’s Ludicrous mode. Other than that, there will be a Crab mode which is expected to involve intense four-wheel steering.

Hummer EV will be manufactured at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck facility in Michigan. The Detroit-based manufacturing factory will be at the centre of GM’s electrification plan in the upcoming years. At the moment, GM is not selling vehicles in the India automotive market after the discontinuation of Chevrolet brand from the Indian market in 2017. However, the manufacturing facility in India is still in use for export purposes. However, as far as the Hummer's return goes, it is unlikely that GM will introduce the new electric model to our market.
