Haval F5 Showcased At Auto Expo 2020 - Might Rival Jeep Compass

Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors has unveiled quite a few SUVs at Auto Expo 2020. One of the most attention-catching SUVs is the Haval F5 midsize SUV.

Great Wall Motors has showcased its potential best-seller for the Indian market, Haval F5, at the Auto Expo 2020.

The F5 borrows the platform from the Haval H6 with the same 2,680 mm wheelbase. Nevertheless, the latter has a greater length than the former which is 4,470 mm long. In comparison to the Jeep Compass, the F5 has a longer wheelbase by 44 mm and a 75 mm greater overall length.

The F5 features a large grille with chrome trim, thin and sharp auto headlamps with LED DRLs, and a faux skid plate. On the side profile, the sharp shoulder line and the rising window line give the car a bold stance. The SUV runs on 19-inch alloy wheels. Its sloping roofline gives it’s a coupe-like profile. The rear of the SUV features a simple and uncluttered tailgate design, LED tail lamps, and bold 'Haval' lettering. The SUV also comes with a faux splitter and dual exhaust ports in the rear.

The interior has a simple-yet-unique layout with the centre console facing the driver. The cabin is equipped with whistles and bells, a wide 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8-way electrically adjusted driver seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic temperature control and leather seat coverings. On the safety front, the SUV offers standard safety features including dual front airbags, and rear parking sensors.

Haval F5 receives its power from a 1.5-litre turbo-direct injection gasoline burner which can produce a 168 PS against 285 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed MT or 7-speed DCT unit. GWM is mainly known for pickup trucks and large vehicles, but it is expected to introduce the Haval SUVs in the Indian auto market first. The F5 will compete against the Kia Seltos, Jeep Compass, and the all-new Hyundai Creta in the fiercely competitive Indian compact SUV segment.
