Just a couple of weeks after the launch, Honda City beats the Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna to become the bestseller of the segment in July 2020

The new-generation Honda City 2020 was launched in India just some weeks back, specifically on July 15. Just a couple of weeks away from its launch, the new Honda City has proved itself to be a major hit in the executive sedan segment. The new Honda City 2020 outsold the Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna to become the highest-selling executive sedan in July 2020.

Reports reveal that during the month of July, Honda has managed to sell 1,975 units of the City in India while its primary rivals, Hyundai Verna registered 1,906 units and Maruti Ciaz posted 1,303 units. All that means the fifth-gen City sedan has outnumbered the Ciaz and Verna by 672 units and 69 units, respectively, in the same period.

OEM sales report also shows us that the new City has registered a 3 per cent increase in terms of sales compared with that of the year-ago period. In July 2019, Honda sold 1,921 units of the City sedan in the country. Though the growth is marginal, it signals a positive outcome for the sedan in the future. However, do note the fifth-gen Honda City is going on sale alongside the previous-gen model as well.

The fourth-gen Honda City was offered with decent benefits and discounts worth up to Rs 1.68 Lakh during the previous month, which could be one of the reasons behind the better sales performance of the Japanese sedan.

As for the Honda City 2020, the car has been given massive changes on its physical and mechanical fronts and is available with both petrol and diesel powertrain units. It is also the first sedan in India to come with Amazon Alexa support, along with some best-in-segment features. The prices of 2020 Honda City start from Rs 18.89 Lakh and top off at Rs 14.64 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
