Honda City Outsells Maruti Ciaz Yet Again!

Honda City has again become the top-selling C2 sedan in the Indian market by selling more than both Maruti Ciaz and Hyundai Verna. The 2020 model of the sedan is offered with a petrol and diesel engine.

Japanese automaker, Honda launched the new-gen City in the Indian market a few months back. It rivals with the likes of Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz, VW Vento and Skoda Rapid. The premium sedan has been doing quite well in terms of overall sales. The new-gen Honda City has again become the highest-selling C2 sedan in India for September 2020. The carmaker managed to retail 2709 units of the car. The second position is grabbed by 2020 Hyundai Verna by selling 2228 units of the car and it was followed by Maruti Ciaz as they managed to sell 1534 units.

This clearly shows that people around the country really liked new-gen City and are preferring it than any other model in its segment. The second last position is grabbed by Skoda Rapid by selling 907 units. The sales of VW Vento are quite disappointing as the German automaker was only able to retail 208 units of the car. Expect, Maruti Ciaz, all the cars in the C2 segment has seen positive sales. Although, the fifth-gen Honda City has had a good start, and it remains to be on the top of the premium sedan can continue with its momentum in the months to come.

Mechanically, it gets propelled by 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine. The former develops power and torque outputs of 119bhp and 145 Nm, while the latter produces 98bhp of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque. The petrol unit comes mated to a 6-speed MT or a CVT, while the diesel motor only comes mated to a 6-speed MT. Inside, the new-gen Honda City comes loaded with features like Amazon Alexa remote capability support, an electric sunroof, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic climate control and much more. The new-gen Honda City is priced between Rs 10.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) to Rs 14.64 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The previous fourth-gen model of the car is on sale in the market alongside the 2020 model.
