The 2020 Auto Expo will not see the appearance of the likes of Honda, Ford, Bajaj, Fiat, Jeep and many others.

The New Delhi Auto Expo is the largest automobile show in India and takes place every alternate year. At the Auto Expo, almost every major car manufacturer will display and promote its latest products, along with showcasing concepts to gauge public reactions. However, the show scheduled to take place next year will see a drop in participation as some of the major car brands have confirmed that they will not be present at the 2020 Auto Expo. Honda and Ford are the two biggest brands that have decided to skip next year's motor show. Other brands that have also pulled out from next year's Auto Expo are Bajaj, Fiat, Jeep, Yamaha, and Royal Enfield. Some luxury brands like Land Rover, Jaguar and Audi will also skip the Auto Expo next year.

The market slowdown has lowered the spirit of the whole market and affected car manufacturers in many aspects. For example, to deal with the market downturn, some carmakers have to cut down jobs and dwindle production. This is one reason to blame for the absence of these big brands.

Notably, the absence of Honda comes across as most surprising as the Japanese car manufacturer htheas been an active participant in the previous years of the show. At the 2018 Auto Expo, Honda had introduced the second-generation Amaze and the Sports EV concept car. Honda Amaze, in particular, was warmly welcomed at the show, and the interest expanded beyond the course of the show.  The new-gen Honda Amaze has met with substantial commercial success after launch.

Honda and Ford, among other car brands, will not participate in the 2020 Auto Expo

Besides the mentioned brands, other car manufacturers like Toyota, Nissan, Datsun, Renault, as well as other motorbike markers like TVS Motor Company, Honda Motorcycle, Scooter India, MV Agusta, Norton and Hyosung has not yet confirmed if they will participate in next year’s Auto Expo. Meanwhile, other major brands like Maruti, Hyundai, Mahindra and Tata have confirmed their attendance at the 2020 Auto Expo. Besides these names, newly-launched brands like MG Motor and Kia Motor will also take advantage of this biennial motor show in order to expand brand awareness and display new products.

Volkswagen and Skoda will also make an appearance at the show and have a special focus showcase the new MQB A0 IN platform. This platform is developed specifically for the Indian market and plays an important role in Volkswagen Group’s Indian 2.0 project.
