Honda has plans to introduce an all-new compact SUV in the near future. The new sub-4-meter SUV will compete with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza and upcoming Kia Sonet.

Honda is among those few carmakers who are still planning to enter the sub-compact SUV space. The automaker is already offering a crossover SUV in that market space, named WR-V, which is positioned as the smallest SUV in Honda's line-up. Many customers think that WR-V is a crossover hatchback because of its shape, which is actually true. After looking at the huge popularity of SUVs in India, the carmaker has now decided to focus more on the SUVs. Honda has plans to introduce two new SUVs in the Indian market, which consist of a compact SUV and a 4.2 meter SUV. The former will compete with the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon, while the latter will rival against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.

The all-new compact SUV will be built on the same platform as Honda Amaze, which is both strong and lightweight. The upcoming SUV will feature a completely fresh design along with the conventional Honda styling cues. Additional details of the new compact SUV will be out soon. Moreover, a few reports suggest that the carmaker might replace the WR-V with the all-new sub-compact SUV in the near future, but it is not yet confirmed.
