Hyundai Creta And Venue Together Dominate the SUV Sales Chart

Hyundai is currently offering four SUVs in our market, namely- Venue, Creta, Kona Electric and Tucson.

Hyundai is among the biggest carmakers in the Indian market, and it continues to maintain that position by being on the top of the SUV sales chart. In the first quarter of this fiscal year, the automaker has beaten the sales of Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra in the SUV space. In the month of May, June and July this year, the automaker managed to retail a total of 4,458, 11,382 and 18,372 units, respectively. This means that the carmaker has sold a total of 34,212 units in Q1 FY2020-21. On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki retailed 32,577 UVs in the same period, and Mahindra sold 22,477 utility vehicles.

The Korean automaker has sold 1,635 more SUVs than Maruti Suzuki and 11,735 more than Mahindra in the first quarter of this fiscal year. At the moment, Hyundai is offering a total of four SUVs in its portfolio, namely- Venue, Creta, Kona Electric and Tucson. Out of all these models, the Hyundai Creta is the top-selling car with 21,968 units retailed, while the Venue grabs the second position by selling 12,105 units. Moreover, in this period, the carmaker sold 93 units of Tucson and 46 units of Kona Electric. Other than the SUVs, Hyundai also offers a range of other passenger vehicles in its line-up like Santro, Grand i10 Nios, Aura, Santro and i20. The carmaker is also working on launching new products in the Indian market.

By the upcoming festive season, the carmaker will launch the next-gen i20. The unofficial booking of the premium hatchback has already been started. As compared to the ongoing model, the all-new Hyundai i20 will employ new looks and features. Once launched, the new premium hatchback will rival with the likes of the Tata Altroz and Maruti Baleno. The ongoing Hyundai Elite i20 derives power from a 1.2-litre petrol motor, which puts out 82bhp of peak power and 114 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed MT.
