Hyundai Creta Records 96% Sales Growth In August 2020

Thanks to the launch of the 2020 Hyundai Creta, the compact SUV brand from HMIL is again the top gainer in August 2020 with a 96% sales growth on a YoY basis.

Hyundai Motors India launched the second-generation Creta in India just some months ago as a response to the increasing competition in the mid-size SUV segment. Over several months of existence, the new SUV has managed to bring in none other than a better success to the Creta nameplate. Last month, the popularity of the Hyundai Creta 2020 continues, recorded a 96 per cent sales growth on the year-on-year basis so it was again the best-selling SUV in India. The second spot was taken by the Creta’s cousin - Kia Seltos

That said, during the month of August 2020, Hyundai reported as many as 11,758 units of Creta in the Indian market that almost doubles up 6,001 units registered in the same month last year. Whereas the Creta’s arch competitor, Kia Seltos reported 10,655 units sold in August 2020, posting a 71 per cent increase in terms of sales as compared to 6,236 units in the year-ago period. Together, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos account for 63 per cent market share in the mid-size SUV segment.

Talking about the new Hyundai Creta, the SUV comes in a choice of three different engine options just like the Seltos. The 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine produces 115 PS/ 144 Nm, the 1.5-litre oil engine gets the max power of 115 PS and 250 Nm of torque rating while the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol motor churns out 140 PS/ 242 Nm. The gearbox options are also plenty with a standard 6-speed MT along with a 6-speed AT, a 7-speed DCT and an IVT as optional.

The 2020 Hyundai Creta offers a long equipment list that’s the key to its popularity. It comes with a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car tech, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof, touch-enabled air purifier, power-adjustable drive seat, ventilated front seat, a 7-inch TFT colour MID, paddle shifters with drive mode select, etc.

The ex-showroom prices of the Hyundai Creta start from Rs 9.99 lakh and go up to Rs 17.2 lakh for the top-end model. It competes against the similar models like Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster.
