Hyundai Creta Sales Volume Peaks in September 2020

Hyundai Creta registered a total sales of over 9,200 units, which is the highest monthly sales of this model since 2015.

Hyundai Motor India has sold 59,913 units in September 2020. The domestic sales number is rated at 50,313 units, which marks a growth of 23.60 per cent compared to the same month last year. Hyundai also claimed to export 9,200 units from Indian last month.

It is reported that Hyundai Creta registered a monthly sales volume of 12,325 units. It is also the highest monthly sales volume for Hyundai Creta since 2015. With this sale volume, Hyundai remains to be the most popular SUV for the South-Korean car manufacturer in India. The Venue, Tucson and Kona are ranked as the second-, third-, and fourth-best selling model in the line-up. In September, Hyundai retailed 8,469 units of the Venue. The sales figures of the Tucson and Kona EV are 85 units and 29 units respectively.

Hyundai Creta also leads the compact SUV segment with such high sales volume. Last month, Kia Seltos, the biggest rival of Hyundai Creta, registered a sales volume of 9,079 units. The growth in sales of the Hyundai Creta has widened the sales gap between the Creta and Seltos. In August, while Hyundai Creta clocked a sales volume of 11,756 units, the Kia managed to sell 10,655 units of the Seltos.

Hyundai launched the new-gen Hyundai Creta earlier this year. Initially, the 2020 Hyundai Creta does not meet with expected response from the market due to the COVID19 outbreak. However, since the market has warmed up in the last few months, the Hyundai Creta is gaining more sales.

2020 Hyundai Creta shares its powertrain options with the Kia Seltos. It is available with three choices of engines, 1.5-litre petrol, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel motor. The 1.5-litre petrol engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic gearbox. The turbocharged petrol engine, on the other hand, is available with a 7-speed DCT only. The only diesel engine comes with two transmission options, 6-speed MT or 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Even though the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta share similar engine choices, Hyundai Creta ends up with higher fuel efficiency thanks to lighter kerb weight and higher gear ratio. The non-turbocharged petrol engine returns the mileage of 16.8kmpl and 17.1kmpl for the manual and CVT version, respectively. The turbocharged petrol’s fuel mileage stands at 16,8 kmpl. The diesel-DCT is claimed to offer the mileage of 16.8kmpl while the diesel-AT delivers a fuel economy of 18.3kmpl.
