Hyundai revealing their plans in India market and its new car - the Santro

Hyundai has an ambitious plan in the Indian market for the next two years. On their 20th celebration, there are many new plans are revealed.

Today, Hyundai is hosting their 20th celebration. To mark this day, journalists and bloggers are invited to visit their plant in Chennai. Hyundai has shared their vision and plans for their activities in the Indian market by 2020. 

The automaker brand confirms their plan to launch 8 new cars from now to the end of 2020. To turn the plan into reality, Rs 6,300 crores of investment will be drawn into Indian. Along with that, the manufacturing capacity will be raised to 7.5 lakhs per year.

Also at today’s celebration, the CEO of Hyundai India also reveals the company’s new car - Santro. It is the first car among the up-coming cars. 

The car has been tested and expected to launch before Diwali 2018. After being launched, it will come to compete with Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Tata Tiago of the same segment. 

This hatchback might take on the platform of the i10 which is now discontinued. 

The engine of the Santro might also be the revised version of the 1.1-liter petrol engine that has been used in the i10. About the transmission, this hatchback could offer 5-speed manual transmission or automatic transmission which is named Smart Auto.

Many other plans are also revealed at today’s celebration. 

Hyundai also confirmed the launch of the new Kona EV in India in 2019. The price of the new Kona will be around Rs 25 lakhs.

As a part of this plan for the time to come, the Tucson will be updated. Its new version has been found testing in Korea. The company has set plan to launch this car in India by early 2019. It will be rival to Jeep Compass and VW Tiguan. 

It is also made clear that Hyundai Elantra will receive a facelift by 2020. Refreshed interior, as well as updated exterior, is expected for this new version. Its future competitors are Toyota Corolla and Skoda Octavia.

Also included in Hyundai’s future plan, Hyundai Santra Fe will be launched in India. According to some spy shots, this SUV looks quite like the Kona. Priced between Rs 28 and 32 lakhs, it will be a potential against Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, and Skoda Kodiaq.

The new sub-four-meter SUV which has been recently found testing is also planned to launch soon. New SUV Hyundai’s new hatchback, i30, is also spotted being tested. These two new cars might be available with petrol and diesel version.
