Hyundai Wants Owners of 5 Lakh Creta Sold So Far to Upgrade to Tucson

Hyundai Tucson facelift was recently launched in the Indian market. It sits above the 2020 Creta in the carmaker's lineup. It may be noted here that the 2020 Creta was launched in March this year and has quickly managed to become the best-selling SUV in the Indian market. When asked about the sales projections for the Tucson at its launch, Hyundai officials claimed that over 5 lakh units of Creta have been sold in the market till date and most buyers would be planning to upgrade their vehicles by now. And, this where the Tucson comes in as it makes for a perfect upgrade from the Creta. In carmaker’s lineup, Hyundai Tucson is the next SUV that owners of old Creta can look up to. However, the Tucson misses out on some equipment that new-gen 2020 Creta comes with, but it outperforms the Creta in almost every other aspect.

In terms of dimensions, the Hyundai Tucson is surely an upgrade over the Creta. It measures 4,480 mm in length, 1.850 mm in width, and 1,660 mm height. Hence, it boasts of a higher street presence than its smaller sibling. Talking of the powertrain, the Tucson comes with 2 engine options – 2.0L petrol and 2.0L diesel. The petrol motor on the Tucson comes in a 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated configuration and puts out peak power and torque output of 152 PS and 190 Nm, respectively.

The oil-burner, however, is a turbocharged unit which is capable of generating a maximum power output of 185 PS and peak torque of 400 Nm. The petrol variants of the Tucson can be had with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic unit, whereas the diesel variants offer the option of a 6-speed manual transmission and an 8-speed automatic transmission. It also offers the buyer with an option of AWD layout, but this is restricted to the diesel automatic trim only.

The 2020 Hyundai Tucson also gets an increased interior room in comparison to its younger sibling, Creta, which is thanks to the longer wheelbase of 2,670 mm. With the recent updates, it now gets Hyundai’s BlueLink connected tech that offers loads of connected car features, such as remote engine start/stop, remote climate control, and remote car lock/unlock. Talking of the prices, Hyundai Tucson starts at Rs. 22.30 lakh and tops out at 27.03 lakh.
