Made In India Kia Sonet To Reach Nepal, Cost More Than 3 Times

Kia has recently introduced its all-new sub-4-meter SUV in our market, named Sonet. Right now, it is the most affordable car in the automaker’s stable. It rivals with the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Toyota Urban Cruiser and Ford EcoSport. Soon, the carmaker has plans to introduce the India-made Sonet in Nepal. As per a few recent reports from local media, in Nepal, the SUV is expected to be priced at NPR 35.90 lakh, which translates into Rs 22.51 lakh. In Nepal, the SUV will be launched in four different trim levels namely- HTE, HTX, HTK+ and GTX+.

The entry-level HTE variant of the car will be sold at NPR 35.90 lakh, the HTX will retail at NPR 47.90 lakh. Moreover, the HTK+ trim will be priced at NPR 49.90 lakh and the top-spec GTX+ trim will cost at Rs 57.90 lakh. The Nepal-spec Kia Sonet will derive power from a 1.2-litre NA gasoline mill, which develops 82bhp of peak power and 115 Nm of twisting force. Transmission duties are done by a 5-speed MT. The SUV will also get propelled by a 1.5-litre diesel engine, which will be offered in two different states of tune. It’ll produce 100/115bhp of power and 240/250 Nm of twisting force. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Earlier, the Korean automaker said that the India-spec Sonet will be exported to 70 international markets around the globe and Nepal will be the first country to get the SUV. Right now, the car is being produced at the company’s manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. In our market, the carmaker offers Sonet in six different trim levels namely- HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and GTX+. The all-new Kia Sonet is retailed at a starting price of Rs 6.71 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the entry-level HTE trim and goes all the way up to Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top-spec GTX Plus variant. Right now, Kia Sonet is the most affordable sub-4-meter SUV in the Indian market.
