The Indian comapct SUV segment grew by 5.4 per cent in April 2019, the maine reason behind this rise is the launch of XUV300

The Indian auto manufacturers had a real tough time in April 2019, except Honda, as all the other car companies posted negative sales growth. On the other hand, the compact SUV segment grew by 5.4 per cent, which is all thanks to the recently launched Mahindra XUV300. Maruti Suzuki acquires 45% of the total sales volume in the segment with its Vitara Brezza. The Mahindra XUV300 entered the Indian auto space in February 2019 to compete against the likes of Ford EcoSport and, Honda WR-V. It takes no time for the XUV300 to beat its competitors. The XUV300 also beats the Tata Nexon in terms of sales by posting 4,200 unit sales in April 2019. The Tata Nexon is now the third-best seller car of April 2019.

After outselling the Ford EcoSport, the Mahindra XUV300 even beats the Tata Nexon by posting 4,200 unit sales in April 2019.

The rise in sales of Mahindra XUV300 also leads to a decline in sales of its TUV300 sibling. In April 2019, the sale of EcoSport and WR-V is decreased by 23 and 46 per cent respectively while the Nexon registered 16 per cent YoY sales decrease. It is the biggest Yoy decrease for Honda WR-V. We only need to wait a bit to see whether the same trend will continue or not.
