The China-spec Baojun 530 and India-spec MG Hector is dubbed the Chevrolet Captiva in Thailand. Here comes the slight difference with India's Hector SUV.

While China’s Baojun 530 will be introduced in India as the MG Hector, it will soon hit the Thailand market with the Chevrolet Captiva nameplate. The model had been brought the SAIC’s pavilion at the 2018 Bogota International Motor Show.

We’re here to work on a brief comparison between the Wuling, MG versions of the Baojun 530 and the new “bowtie” badged version in the Thailand market. Like the two aforementioned counterparts, the Thai-spec Chevrolet Captiva carries a unique radical front bumper design with a simplistic grille comprising of three black horizontal slats housing the golden bowtie. However, a distinctive main lighting setup is not the case for the Chevrolet Captiva and it is exclusive to the new MG Hector only. Instead, the Captiva SUV come along with the original lighting system taken from the Baojun 530.

India’s MG Hector, as reported earlier will be introduced merely in a five-seat configuration in the point of the commercial launch while the seven-seater version is in the pipeline to come in 2020 as well. Meanwhile, as for the all-new Chevrolet Captiva, it will come available with both five and seven-seat configurations straightway after going on sale in the Southeast Asian country.

During the world’s premiere at 2018 Bogota International Auto Show, the auto manufacturer wrapped off the engine-transmission package of the Captiva to the enthusiasts. It keeps a 1.5-litre turbo engine, reportedly a gasoline unit, under the hood that can output 147PS of max power and 230 Nm of peak torque. Power is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. Specifications of the Thai-spec version is yet to reveal, but we can anticipate a similar combination as in the debuted model.
