After the Kia Seltos and Carnival, the Sonet will be company’s next big launch in the Indian market. The latest spy shots give us a glimpse of the Sonet’s cabin

As we know, Kia Motor is gearing up for the entrance of an all-new compact SUV, Kia Sonet which will be the company’s next big launch after the two successful maiden products – Kia Seltos and Carnival. We have seen the Kia Sonet in its near-production form at this year’s Expo event held in Delhi recently.

While the exterior design of the final car has been confirmed to be more or less similar to the displayed model at the show, the interior of the Sonet were completely concealed behind the tinted-black windows. However, thanks to a set of spy images cropped up online recently, now we can get a glimpse of the Sonet’s interior details and we are pretty sure that it would take many cues from that of the Kia Seltos.

That said, the major similarity between the interiors of the two SUVs will be a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The Sonet will borrow the flat-bottom steering, bottom part of the centre console and gearbox setup from the Seltos brother as well, making its cabin quite as premium. However, unlike the classy cabin of the Seltos, the all-new Sonet will boast of a funky styling design on the inside, in the form of an all-black theme with silver accents along with vertically-shaped centre AC vents that flank the switches.

In terms of features, the Sonet is likely to be as well-equipped as the Seltos with the prominent features such as ambient lighting, power sunroof, wireless charging, LED headlamps, UVO connect, BOSE sound system, climate control, keyless entry and a multi-information display, etc. Possibly, the Kia Sonet will come with a couple of features more than its rival, Hyundai Venue.

We do expect that the Kia Sonet will be loaded with enough safety essentials including airbags, ABS, EBD, speed alert, seatbelt warning system, reverse parking sensors, central locking and more.

Mechanically, Kia Sonet will be packed with three engine options including a 83 PS 1.2-litre Kappa petrol, a 125 Ps 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine along with a 100 PS 1.5-litre diesel unit. While the petrol mills are likely to be sourced from the Venue, the oil motor might be shared with the Seltos. Transmission options for the Sonet will include a 6-speed MT and a 7-speed DCT unit.

As for the pricing, Kia might offer the Sonet in the range of Rs 7 – 12 Lakh (estimated, ex-showroom), making it competitive enough to compete in the compact SUV segment. Just some weeks back, the launch of Kia Sonet was slated for August 2002 but it now can be delayed due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
